Join us for an easy and fun holiday craft using recycled books! We’ll learn a few simple folds in the first session, and then decorate our trees using buttons, pompoms, glitter, and other recycled materials during session two. Feel free to bring your own bling!
Monday, December 15th, 12-1:30pm
The monthly Parkinson’s Support Group is a gathering place for those with Parkinson’s and their loved ones to create community and share information. The group will meet each month to offer a space for everyone to discuss their challenges and successes, share stories, connect with others who are navigating similar issues, and sift through medical information and the latest news about available treatments. Refreshments and resources provided. Registration is not required.
Monday, December 15th, 2-3pm
Join us for a conversation with farmer, Green Burial Movement advocate, and steward of the Town of Rhinebeck cemetery, Suzanne Kelly. We once disposed of our dead in earth-friendly ways―no chemicals, biodegradable containers, dust to dust. But over the last 150 years death care has become a toxic, polluting, and alienating industry in the United States. Today, people are slowly waking up to the possibility of more sustainable and less disaffecting death care, reclaiming old practices in new ways, in a new age.
Wednesday, December 17th, 7-8pm
Join Eve M. Kahn and Julie Lasky in a discussion that reveals the little-known story of the trailblazing journalist who took on New York’s Gilded-Age injustices. From exposing slumlords and corrupt politicians to advocating for impoverished immigrants, she captured the injustices of her era with a wit and tenacity that still resonates today.
Thursday, December 18th, 6-7pm
“Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering,” says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork—all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach’s forty years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students. Book discussion group led by LMFT Jennifer Uhrlass.
