Thursday, July 10th & 17th, 7-8pm
This class is for adult beginners who would like to learn how to draw. No artistic abilities required. Christine will teach how to see objects properly in order to draw them. We will learn about positive and negative space, line quality and composition. Students just need to bring pencil and paper.

Saturday, July 12th, 11am-1pm
If you were a bird, what kind would you be? Using recycled and everyday materials, participants will create a personalized bird sculpture inspired by local and endangered birds, human-bird myths, and fantasy. Materials will be provided, but participants may also bring their own.

Tuesday, July 15th, 7-8pm
This growing season, we’re welcoming author Amy Wu and grower Suzanne Kelly in conversation about her book, From Farms to Incubators, which presents inspiring stories and practical case studies of how women entrepreneurs from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds are leading the agtech revolution.

Wednesday, July 16th, 7-8pm
The definitive story of the scientists who set out to answer two questions: “Why do we sleep?” and “How can we sleep better?” Award-winning journalist Kenneth Miller joins us at the library to tell the story of four outsider academics who took the study of sleep from fringe discipline to mainstream obsession.

Saturday, July 19th, 4:30-5:30pm
The ensemble, all of whom are connected with Bard College’s Conservatory of Music, will play a variety of familiar and original jazz tunes such as “Nostalgia In Times Square” by Charles Mingus and “Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles. Planned for our outdoor stage, indoors in the event of inclement weather.

Thursday, July 24th, 6-7pm
The second installment of our mental health-focused book club will explore The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.

Tuesday, July 29th from 7-8pm
Join us for our monthly meeting of the Starr Library Book Club.
A sweeping novel about a single house in the woods of New England, told through the lives of those who inhabit it across the centuries.

Wednesday, July 30th from 7-8:30pm
Today, the Borscht Belt is recalled through a nostalgic lens, but its current state is nothing like its earlier status. Forgotten and exhausted, much of it has been left to decay. Scheinfeld’s book The Borscht Belt depicts the unique history of the Catskill Mountains region through photographs of abandoned sites where hotels, resorts, and bungalow colonies once boomed.

Tuesdays from 11:30am to 12:45pm through August 25
Join us for a casual weekly ping pong pop-up session happening weekly through the end of August!

First Sunday of the month at 2pm
Join us for a peer-to-peer insight meditation session. Members of this group have practiced meditation for many years and are delighted to share their experience with others. These sessions are always free and open to everyone, but donations to support the library are encouraged. Tea and cookies will be served.

Third Thursday of the Month at 10:30am
Join Anna Kaselis for a monthly Sound Meditation. Sound meditation uses bowls, gongs and other instruments to help shift the brain into a deeply relaxed state. Clear your mind with us at the library every third Thursday of the month.

Twice Monthly on Wednesdays at 7pm
Nerds at Nite is an adult (17+) gaming group that meets twice a month to play board games of all types, including Chronology, Tsuro, Point City, Splendor, and many other tabletop games (that can be played in under 2 hours). Attendees are welcome to bring games to share, but it’s not required. Every meeting involves lots of fun, friendly competition, and a dedicated community of fellow nerds!

Monthly on Thursdays at 5pm
This group is for anyone interested in learning more or sharing wisdom about investing. Everyone has something to contribute and can suggest some areas they want to explore. We are not experts, nor teachers, but will freely share our experiences. We will start with a questionnaire and choose a topic for each week going forward based on group consensus.

Classical Guitar with Andrew Baffi
First Sunday of the month at 2pm
Come by and enjoy an afternoon of classical guitar with Andrew Baffi. Browse, read a magazine or a newspaper, or just chill with gentle music in the background.

Mahjong
Mondays & Thursdays at 1pm
Come by and play with a group of friendly gamers. This is an adult group.

Chair Yoga
Fridays at 10:15am
Join yoga teacher Barbara Eichin for this gentle and relaxing program designed for seniors and those who are recovering from injury or have restricted movement. Suggested donation : $12.00.

Scrabble Club
Wednesdays at 1pm
