Friends of Starr Library

Who We Are

For more than 50 years, the Friends of Starr Library has made it their mission to support the library, and in particular the library’s service to the community. Annually we raise over $25,000 for such projects as:

  • the purchase of new books

  • the summer reading program

  • computers

  • technical assistance

  • large-print books

  • free museum passes

  • a water cooler

  • plus a host of other benefits to the library

How We Raise Funds

The Friends hold five book sales every year: April, June, August, October and December. We sell the following items:

  • Hardcover books

  • Trade paperback books

  • Music CDs

  • Books on CD

  • DVDs

  • Art works (paintings, drawings, prints)

We accept donations of recent fiction and non-fiction, classics, vintage books, art books, and local interest titles. Items donated must be in good condition. We do not accept textbooks, condensed books, encyclopedias, magazines, video tapes or audio cassettes.

The Friends are currently accepting donations. You may bring them into the front entrance of the library to the front desk, or give us a call ahead of time to schedule a drop off of a larger volume of materials. In this case, you will be asked to meet a member of staff around the back of the library to load the materials directly into the lower level of the building.

Your donations are greatly appreciated!
