Summer Reading Challenge 2025

Starr Library and Red Hook Public Library Go Head-to-Head!

How Does the Summer Reading Challenge Work?

This summer, our libraries are going head-to-head in a friendly but competitive reading challenge to see whose patrons read the most!

How to Join the Challenge:

  • Register at your home library (Red Hook or Starr) by Monday, June 30 to participate.
  • You must be age 14+ and a Starr or Red Hook library cardholder.
  • If you register using our online form, we’ll contact you about picking up your reading log.

How to Track Your Reading:

  • Use the reading log you’ll receive at registration to record each book you finish.
  • Every time you visit either library, tell us how many books you’ve completed.
  • Forgot your log? No problem—just let us know your total, and we’ll update your tally.

Need some direction? Want an additional challenge?

Pick up a Bingo card from the Starr Library circulation desk! This is a totally optional but fun way to read outside of your comfort zone and try new things. The goal is to complete as many of the reading challenges in the squares as possible. You can write down your answers to each on the Bingo card or keep track yourself.
