This summer, the Red Hook Public Library, Tivoli Free Library, Clinton Community Library, Starr Library, and Morton Memorial Library are teaming up to bring you a region-wide reading adventure!
Inspired by the theme “Unearth a Story,” this year’s program is a treasure map challenge for all ages, combining reading, exploration, and community discovery. Visit libraries, explore local businesses, attend events, and complete fun activities to earn points and prizes.
How It Works
Pick up your Summer Reading Treasure Map at any participating library and start your journey. Your goal? Collect as many points as possible!
Grab your map. Collect your stamps. Unearth your story.
The Reading Expedition
- Set your own reading goal and track every book you finish.
- Each book = 1 point
- Reach your goal = +25 bonus points
The Library Loop
- Visit each participating library and collect a stamp
- Each library visit = 5 points/stamp
- Visit them all get +25 bonus point
- Each stamp circle should have the Library’s logo.
Local Legends Trail
- Support local businesses and community partners featured on the map
- Each visit = 5 points/stamp
- Complete the full trail get + 25 bonus points
- Each stamp circle should have the businesses logo
The Adventure Atlas
- Complete the following challenges = 5 pts/challenge
- Attend a Library Program
- Explore a StoryWalk
- Ask a Librarian for a reading recommendation
- Share your participation on social
- Check out a digital item
- Volunteer in the community
- See a movie at Upstate Films (get free popcorn when you show your map)
- Check out a Museum Pass
- Check out a Library of Thing thing
- Write a book recommendation (we can have blank shelf talkers at each Library for this one)
Earning Points & Prizes
- Every stamp = points added to your total
- Complete an entire quadrant = +25 bonus points
- 50 Points = Earn a Summer Reading Prize
- 100 Points = Earn an additional prize
- Complete all 4 quadrants = Entered to win the Grand Prize
- The Town with the most points will be declared the summer reading champion.
- We should either collect completed maps or keep a spreadsheet of completed map point tallies.
