The Starr Library Board of Trustees is responsible for oversight and governance of overall operations and finances of the library, working with the Library Director (who is responsible for day-to-day management), the Friends of Starr Library, and other community organizations.
The Board of Trustees consists of nine members. One member will be stepping down and we will appoint a new member as of January 1, 2025.
We invite you to apply for this important and fulfilling position if you are:
- A resident of the town of Rhinebeck (which includes the village of Rhinebeck and the hamlet of Rhinecliff),
- Committed to the Starr Library mission as a community resource,
- Willing and able to commit time and energy to preparing for and attending board meetings, joining and working on committees, and participating in Starr Library events. (Typically about 8-12 hours per month plus occasional short-term projects.)
- Willing and able to make some level of financial donations to the Library. There is no minimum amount, but a financial contribution from each board trustee is expected as a demonstration of commitment.
The Starr Library Board works collaboratively on committees and projects. We value collegiality, constructive input, and creative thinking. We strive to represent a diversity of backgrounds, experience, skills, and interests.
