Starr Library Seeks Community-Minded Rhinebeck Resident to Join our Board of Trustees

The Starr Library Board of Trustees is responsible for oversight and governance of overall operations and finances of the library, working with the Library Director (who is responsible for day-to-day management), the Friends of Starr Library, and other community organizations.

The Board of Trustees consists of nine members. One member will be stepping down and we will appoint a new member as of January 1, 2025.

We invite you to apply for this important and fulfilling position if you are:

  • A resident of the town of Rhinebeck (which includes the village of Rhinebeck and the hamlet of Rhinecliff),
  • Committed to the Starr Library mission as a community resource,
  • Willing and able to commit time and energy to preparing for and attending board meetings, joining and working on committees, and participating in Starr Library events. (Typically about 8-12 hours per month plus occasional short-term projects.)
  • Willing and able to make some level of financial donations to the Library. There is no minimum amount, but a financial contribution from each board trustee is expected as a demonstration of commitment.

The Starr Library Board works collaboratively on committees and projects. We value collegiality, constructive input, and creative thinking.  We strive to represent a diversity of backgrounds, experience, skills, and interests.
